Q: Has anyone noticed the prices of used hondas/toyotas/etc have gone up?
I bought a used 4cyl honda and 4cyl subaru before gas prices went high and noticed they are selling for as much or more than what I paid for them.
A: What you are describing is an alarming new phenomena we are seeing across the nation especially in those cases where the item in question costs more than .01.
It used to be that consumers could expect to see prices fall each year. In fact most of us have been expecting most things to become free within a few short months. I wonder if this is the beginning of the end.
Q: Question about Certified Used Hondas?
I purchased my vehicle in September of last year with 62,000 miles. I bought it not from a Honda dealership, but from a private dealership. My car is at 80,000 miles now and the transmission is dying. I am the 4th owner of it, however the 2nd owner had bought it in 01/05 as a Certified Used Vehicle. I understand that they have a 7 year / 100,000 mile warranty, but I was wondering if I inherited that when I purchased it. I really hope so as I don’t want to pay for a new tranny.
A: you are not entitled to any certified used vehicle warranty coverage on that vehicle. The vehicle must be recertified on ownership changes by the dealership and they must pay a new fee to register it as a certified used car. certified used cars can only be sold through Honda dealers. The records for the certification in the Honda service records are in the name of the purchaser. When the vehicle is presented for service at a honda dealer and the name of the customer on Honda’s record does not match the owner’s name then Honda will not approve the repair. Honda requires an independent vehicle inspection for transmission repairs under the certified used car program and the inspectors check for agreement between vehicle registration and the purchaser information. As you are not the person who paid for the certification you have no entitlement to any coverage under that contract and any claim for repairs under that contract won’t make it through Honda’s inspection and verification process.
Sorry for the bad news

A: ebay.
Q: How many miles is too many when buying a used car?
I have about $3000-$3500 to spend on a new car. I’m looking at used Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans, and even Hyundais. How many miles is too many? I’m a 19-year-old college student, and I commute to school so I do a lot of driving. I probably do close to 20,000 miles a year.
A: a lot of people trade just before 50,000 miles, so they get more when they trade it in.
The more mile on the car when you buy it, the lower the amount you should pay. For your use I’d say between 50-75,000 miles should fit your budget.
Q: What are the best older used cars to buy? I’m looking at Volvos and Hondas?
Is it safe to buy from a private party? Would buying at a commercial dealership be a better idea? People’s experiences with repairs, etc?
A: I hate to say it man. I’m really not an import guy and my preference is towards domestic cars. but I’ve heard hondas are inherently reliable
Q: looking for used volkswagens and hondas in Massachusetts?
im looking for used honda civics or vw gti’s in massachusetts or rhode island. ive checked craigslist daily and there isnt much. ive also tried vehix and cars.com and a few other big websites like that. where else can i look to find one of these cars by private party? under 4000 dollars too. thanks
A: If it is not on CL then you are either going to have to go to dealers on eBay.
I am also assuming that you have checked CL for nearby areas too.. .
Q: craigslist guy who buys used hondas?
I need help to find a guy on craigs list who lives in North carolina i think gastonia and he buys hondas anway they are weather crashed or in need of parts or broken parts etc and he says he buys them for more or at least 1000 … i just dont know what his user name is or where to find him on there thanks
A: look youself
Q: Excluding Hondas and Toyotas because they are so ubiquitous. What are some of the best used cars to buy?
Cars that are relatively cheap, good on gas, reliable, cheap to maintain, fun-to-drive, and if possible…..stylish
A: Mazda 3, Nissan Altima, Pontiac Vibe, Subaru Impreza, Acura Integra, Mazda Protege’, Mazda MX-5 (Miata), Scion tC (technically a Toyota).
Q: Is a Toyota Scion tc a good used car to buy? Is it as good as Hondas or other Toyotas? How is it on gas?
A: Yes, if you want to buy used car, Toyota Scion is good. It is almost same as Hondas, the gas is also similar among the Toyota car with same CC. However, it is better then other model of car
Q: Are Acuras more reliable than Hondas, Civic vs 1.6 EL, when it comes to high milage used cars?
I am looking to buy a used car that is preferably a honda, acura or a toyota for fuel economy, reliability and price
A: either one is good.
I drive a celica (2002 5spd) and I love it
Q: i need to find any used hondas in connecticut for sale or any type of car for sale?
i need a honda civic 1992 white or gold and i also need a honda accord 1993, honda civic dx 2 door coupe for sale in connecticut
A: No problemo, just head off to your closest Honda dealer and ask him about whatever car you want from the most recent to the ones that had witnessed World War 1. They’ve got everything.
Q: When it comes to used cars, which is more reliable, hondas or toyotas?
A: Any Used Car is only as good as how the previous owner took care of it. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Geo Metro or a Honda Accord, if you don’t maintain the car, it will have premature problems.
So there is no exact answer to your question because if one owner took excellent care of their Toyota while another neglected their Honda, the Toyota would most likely be a better buy. This role can be reversed also, so you will want to focus on the vehicles condition rather than the Make. I hope this helps to put things into prospective for you. Good Luck.
Q: Used vs. new Hondas?
I just got a new job and will be looking to get a new car as I’ve outgrown mine. I have a 93 Honda del Sol that is still kicking, and I hear nothing but great things about Hondas. I like the CR-Vs so I will probably be looking at them.
The more recent model used CR-Vs aren’t that much cheaper than a brand new 2008. So, I’m trying to figure out what makes more financial sense:
1. If I’m going to buy a 2005-2006ish model Honda, I might as well buy a new one. So, no question there really.
2. BUT if Hondas last for so long, I could buy an earlier 2000’s model (say 2002-2004 or something) with a bit more mileage on it. Those look like they are going for about $14-$16K or so (ballpark). Of course they have 70K+ miles on them but for a Honda, that’s not really a huge issue since they last longer than other cars… right?
Thoughts please! Thanks!!!
I would only be buying a certified pre-owned used car, not from a private seller.
A: I would say go for used, eliminating the 3k depreciation you usually pay when you drive the car off the lot. if you want this for the long haul, then you dont have to choose a 70k+ car to do it.. It might be worth that little extra money up front for a car with less mileage so you can hold on to it for that much longer….
Here are some good references for tips for getting that car you want…
www.fool.com/car/ -this is a good guide to buying a car and not getting ripped off or going over your budget…
edmunds.com — this is great for researching your car, read reviews for every mode, and if you check used cars, you can get an honest online estimate on how much you should expect to pay for a car with x year, and x amount of miles on it so you dont overpay for your honda…
cars.com –this is where i found my most recent used car, searched for the model i wanted, with the mileage range i was going to accept, in my pre-decided budget…it lists the inventory of all the local regular car dealers, provides your internet price (theres still some room for negotiation beyond this internet price, but its usually better than what you get once you are inside the dealership and have not checked online prices..) this should give you an idea of what you should really expect to pay… little trick, be sure to sort by cheapest cars first instead of the default highest priced ones first, otherwise you will not see how low you can buy one for…
-lastly, call the dealer and verify its in stock before you bother making your decision, make a test drive and take your time and dont let them rush you….good luck…
Q: Used Car dealerships Austin that sells Hondas?
I was looking for an older Honda S2000 from all the Used Car dealerships Austin area. I fell in love with the S2000 about 5 years ago and I’ve always wanted it. I was hoping someone knows a good retailer that can help me find this car maybe? I saw a couple of dealerships that have it but I’m scared about buying it overpriced because I don’t have good negotiating skills, recommendations anyone?
Thanks a lot,
Jeffrey
A: Hey, I loved my S2000 it’s old but it still looks nice in the grayish-silver color. But I would strongly suggest you should go to a Honda Dealership to buy an old Honda because they many different older models because they usually only offer to previous owners who didn’t do any damage to the car. Suggesting retailers is kind of hard but if you’re buying a Honda I strongly suggest you check out Howdy Honda because of their great service (their link is below if you want to check out some of the used S2000s that they have). Hope that helps you out.

does any one have or know about hondas??? i just bought a used 92 honda and it has a blinking S on the right side from the fuel amount where it shows how much gas you have….does anyone know what that green S blinking means?? also when its on park it seems like your pushing the gas but your not and the i think rpm go up and down , up and down is that something serious?? other than that the car works fine????any one know any info pleaz help so i can figure out how much i have to put in that car….
A: IF ITS AN AUTOMATIC
It means your transmission is sending a problem code and needs to be checked by a mechanic. The transmission goes into a safe mode only allowing 1st and 3rd gears to work. The solution is to replace the shift solenoid.
It may need some trans oil but because your idle is jumpy my guess would be that the torque converter is going to hit the fan soon.
IF ITS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION
The ‘S’ you see is for the ‘Sport Shift’.You know that silver button where your thumb rests when your hand is on the shift? Right below will be another button. That controls the sport shifting. Basically all that does is waste your gas faster!! It is supposed to make your car shift gears faster but I just think it is a waste of gas.
Because its blinking would mean its in need of a service.
