Q: I have a question about manual steering on second generation camaros?
was manual steering availiable on all the second generation camaro or firebird cars 1970 to 1981? If not what years were offered manual steering and what would the interchange be? Im looking to convert from power to manual steering. I know i may be asking for too much info here- any web sites that would help me?- thank you.

A: 70 to 81 had both manual and power steering. You may have encountered a problem looking it up in catalogs because if it is power steering, it’s called a steering gear, while a manual is called a gear box. Try this link below:

Q: where can i find a website that will send u a catolog for old chevy camaros?
i have a 72 chevy camaro and im looking for a website that a will send you a catologe. im looking for origional parts if there is a site?

A: NPDLink.com

I have both a 70 and 73 Camaro that are undergoing restoration and live about 30 minutes from their Charlotte warehouse. I buy EVERYTHING I need for it from them. They offer very competitive pricing and they have GREAT customer service. I recommend them completely.

If anyone tells you about Year One, skip over it. Year One REALLY overprices their products and they don’t have as good of customer service. I’ve used them a couple times in the past and wasn’t pleased at all.

Q: When did Chevrolet start making Camaros again?

A: 2009, the 2010 Camaro was made available for sale in 2009.

Q: Are camaros more reliable than firebirds?
Is a chevy camaro more reliable than a pontiac firebird? I am planning to hopefully get one or the other but I’m not sure which one is the better car. My sis told me pontiacs are basically trash after the 100k miles but I want some more opinions. And I heard about camaros getting cracked dash’s and firebirds having problems with the headlights coming up or getting stuck or whatever, so which one has less of those kinds of issues. And I’m looking for somewhere in the 1993-Early 2000’s year.
Thanks

A: Ok so your looking for a 4th gen? That is easy and they are a good price one thing to look for is one with a 350 with a 6 speed clutch. NO T TOPS! Once the gaskets go bad and they start rattling even if you change the gasket the rattling never goes away and it is SO annoying.

But honestly the difference between the two isn’t really anything. Both cars come off the same assembly line both cars can easily swap parts. I own a 89 Camaro and I took a 350 out of a Firebird rebuilt it and put it in my Camaro. Really all you have to look at is cosmetics and which you find looks better.
The dash board thing either of them can get really, its just the shape of the windshield allowing the sun to hit it. Drys it out, cracks, not the best thing.

As for the headlights, yes that is possible on a Firebird because that is one major difference between the camaro and firebird. the Firebird has the flip up lights like old corvettes had, so yeah it can start to stick on you. Camaro this won’t happen to because its lights stay out all the time.

Other then that problems are pretty equal. Both GM, both on the same line. Decide what you feel looks best and take it. (Get a 6 speed with a 350 and hard top!)

Q: Do 1994 z28 camaros come stock with resonators?
I heard they do not(weird). Is this true? I want to take out my resonator to make my camaro louder. Pointless if it already doesn’t have one. I could look underneath but I’m not sure what it’s suppose to look like. So do they come stock with resonators or no?

A: i don’t think they do, mine came with a loud dual exhaust with rectangular exhaust tips. it probably just has a muffler, mine had one flowmaster muffler, which split into two pipes.

if you want ti louder, have the muffler replaced with an even louder one, like a cherrybomb extreme

Q: What is the gas mileage for third generation Camaros?
I am inquiring about the 3.1L v6 as well as the 5.0 and 5.7L v8s

A: I had an ‘89 IROC, 305, TPI 5.0 five speed that got 19 mpg in my daily driving.
Never really checked real highway MPG, which I’m sure would be in the low 20’s, Just daily commuting.
I miss that car.

Q: how do i unlock my 96 camaros alarm system?
my 96 camaro’s alarm wont let me turn on the car. i tryed takeing off the battery then putting it on again but it dose the same all the gages turn on,the unlock/lock button don’t work, and the head and back lights flash.

A: try this site http://www.the12volt.com

Q: Do all V6 Camaros and Mustangs all have single exhausts?
Hello, I see some nice Camaros and Mustangs, the newer ones from like 1995 and on,

but if there is only one tailpipe, can assume it is the v6 and not the v8?
are there any v8’s with single exhaust?

A: Yup.

True dual exhaust is rare on anything nowadays. Unless you have the Saleen Mustang, Corvette.

Most of the time it’s single exhaust with twin tail pipes.

Q: Does anyone know about 82 camaros or just camaros?
My gas meter won’t work i bought a new cable for it but it worked for a sec then broke. and my check engine light will not turn off.

A: could be a bad ground on the pump harness or could also be a bad sending unit. Check engine light could be a few different things but usually a bad sensor. Take the car somewhere to have the codes pulled. But you could try resetting the computer on the car just to give it a shot.

Q: What is the difference between 67 68 69 camaros.?
I know the bodys are a lot alike but is there much differences

A: the 67 had vent windows, the 68 had no vent windows and side marker lights and the 69 was restyled in the front clip and rear clip.

Q: Why don’t they use Mustangs and Camaros in the Sprint Cup?
I would especially love to see Roush Mustangs racing in NASCAR and I don’t understand why they have Edwards driving a Fusion instead. Nobody I ask seems to know, so I’m wondering if someone on here knows. Thanks!

A: Well Nationwide has the COT so they start driving the COT cars in 2011 (they raced the COTs a few times this year in 2010) which they change to the Challenger and Mustang, still the Impala and Camry though. Everywhere I read the reason GM didn’t use the Camaro is because they would have had to redesign the Camaro so much to meet NASCAR’s rules it wouldn’t have looked like the Camaro anymore. But they’re talking about the “big 3″ modern muscle cars coming to Sprint Cup in 2012 which they talk like will be the Camaro and Challenger but they’re still working on the Mustang front end for that.

Q: Does anybody have a third gen wiring diagrams for all years of the camaros???
I need all third gen wiring diagrams for all years of the camaro’s. Does anyone have any of these (web links, scaned pages out of a chilton or something)?

A: Have you tryed getting them from alldata? You can get indivdual diagrams from alldatadiy through autozone.com.

Q: Are the the Camaros in Transformers One and Two the same? And if so what year?
What year are the two camaros if they are different?? (Bumblebee)

A: They modeled the “new” camaro in the first one it’s supposed to be a 2006 Camaro… in the new one it’s newer because it’s supposed to make it seem as if bumblebee grew stronger and better since the first one… they are making the 2010 Camaros to look like the one from Transformers 2… the original “crappy” camaro in the first one is a ‘66 i believe

The “Camaro” from the first one was actually a Pontiac GTO that was made to look like a Camaro

Q: Does anyone else like the 3rd generation camaros as much as me?
I just think the body style is cool and i bet they are easier to build horsepower with than the 4th gen camaros.

A: After the second gen Camaros I think the looks went down the shitter. I own 3, a 1969, 1974and a 1977…..I would never own one newer than 1979.

Q: Where can i find a 1968 camaros to restore in mississippi?

A: try Ebay or traderonline.com Good luck hope you find one. Gotta love the old Chevys! I have a 75 corvette
