Q: How do you remove a gear shift from a 2009 dodge challenger?
I managed to figure it out myself. I guess this is for anyone else who has problems. You have to take a flat head screwdriver and pop off the crome piece on the bottom it will be tight but dont worry you wont break it. and then just pull the Knob off. There is no set screw.

A: There should be a set screw on the underside.
Loosen then unscrew.

Q: How do you remove the exterior door handle of a 1970 dodge challenger?
The interior door panal is off, but we still can not access the exterior door handle. The door seems to be all one piece and we want to remove the door handle to paint and repair. Don’t want to damage the door or the handle…just want to know how to get it off and back on again (back on again should be obvious, after we figure out how to get it off!!)
Thanks!

A: Most of the door handle back panels have screws that hold the molding in place and on.

On the window handles behind the handle is a type of clip these clips would look something like a shower curtain clip and the two open clip ends must be forced apart and then pushed forcing the other end off the door handle. There is a tool you can buy and maybe even borrow from some parts stores that is designed to be flush flat and slid in behind the handle between the door panel and once you’ve got the tool in place you then slide it straight and then the handle will come off if jiggled slightly and pulled straight outwards.

A trick I use id pull slightly on the handle and push slightly and the door panel then use a flat small headed screwdriver to push the clips one by one, then get the screwdriver to the other side of the handle and push the closed end of the clip outwards.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way nice car.

Q: What car is better the Dodge Challenger or the Chevy Camaro?
I am looking at a lot of cars to get and I’m lost. I have a Ford F-250 king ranch but I don’t like driving it around town, too much of a hassle to park. I do like the Porsche Panamera but I don’t want to take it to school to get it broken in to.

A: This is a tough question, as both cars have their strenghts and weaknesses.

The Camaro’s strengths are the engines and prices. It starts around $23,000 and comes standard with a 300 horsepower V-6 and an optional 426 horsepower V-8 SS model. The downside to the Camaro is its’ size and weight. The car is very front-heavy, which means poor handling and not very fun to drive quickly, which kind of defeats the purpose of a sportscar. It’s an excellent car in a straight line, but not too much fun when there’s twists and turns ahead.

The Challenger’s strengths are its’ style and ride quality. It’s based on an older Mercedes-Benz platform, so it offers excellent ride quality if you drive long distance. It also looks way better, in my opinion, than the Camaro, and looks closest to the original car than the other retro models out there (Camaro, Mustang, Beetle, Thunderbird, FJ Cruiser). The downsides are price and engine choices. The Challenger starts around the same price as the Camaro, but you’re stuck with a rather weak 240 horsepower V-6, which just isn’t big enough to make the car feel sporty. The optional engines are a 370 horsepower V-8 and a 425 horsepower V-8. The smaller V-8 is more expensive than the Camaro’s V-8, and the bigger V-8 is nearly $10,000 more.

Interior design is about the same in quality and style, as well as room. Reliability is undetermined in both models, but if you’re buying new, then you’ll get a warranty to cover anything for several years to come.

Also, I’m not sure why you threw in the Panamera. You could get topline Camaro and Challenger for the price of the Panamera ($90,000 for the base model with no options versus $31,000 for the Camaro SS and $41,500 for the Challenger SRT-8), and still have around $10,000 left over for gas and insurance for the first year. Plus, it’s got less horsepower (400).

If you’re interested in a Rear-Wheel Drive coupe for under $40,000, there are a few other choices out there as well. Have a look at one of these models:

BMW 135I
Ford Mustang GT
Hyundai Genesis Coupe V-6
Mazda RX-8 R3
Nissan 370Z
Pontiac Solstice GXP
Saturn Sky Red Line

The above models all list under $40,000. They have less power than the V-8 powered Challenger and Camaro, but they also weight a lot less, so they’re just as fast. They also handle better, are more fun to drive, and get better gas mileage. The BMW, Ford, Nissan, and Pontiac are available as a coupe or a convertible, the Hyundai and Mazda are coupe only, and the Saturn is convertible only.

If you really want to go all-out though, my top recommendation for you would be the Shelby GT500. It starts at $46,000, slightly more than the Challenger SRT-8, but comes with a 540 horsepower V-8 and the best handling out of any of these cars. It’s incredibly fun to drive and will thump the living daylights out of any car listed above, including the Porsche. For the price, it’s among the top values when comparing dollars versus horsepower and fun factor.

I hope this has answered your question. If you have any more, please feel free to ask.

Q: what is the easiest way to change 2009 dodge challenger se to srt8?
would an engine from a truck fit or should i try to find a used srt8 engine?

A: Go to a dealership and trade it for one.

To do the swap you would need the engine, transmission, drive shaft, rear suspension/axles/differential, all the electronics required to make it all work, and a lot of money. You would also want to swap the brakes and front suspension to deal with the additional weight and power. When you get done you end up with a very expensive Challenger SE that is less valuable and potentially less reliable (because you might not know what you are doing) because of the modifications you made.

Q: Is the 2010 dodge challenger the same price in automatic and manual?
I went to their website and they offer the SE in automatic. I wish to get the SE but with manual transmission. Do they offer it in manual? and if they do, will the price change or be the same?

A: The challenger se comes with auto-stick. That means the challenger is an automatic and stick together. So you can which it out of automatic to manual when you want to and vice-versa

Q: what is the difference between the DODGE CHARGER and the DODGE CHALLENGER ?
i cant seem to figure the two out. please help.

A: The Charger is a four door sport sedan. The Challenger is a 2 door sport coup. The base engine in a Charger is a 2.7 V6, The base engine in the Challenger is a 3.5 V6. The most fun of ether car is the R/T and the most wicked on the planet in ether car is the SRT8.

Q: What would you estimate the worth of a 1970 Dodge Challenger convertible (partially restored) is worth?
My husband died well into restoring this car. I don’t know much about it, don’t drive it (powergrip?)and may have to sell. He used to say that it was one of (I recall less than 2000 made that year) a few and therefore of some value. Always garaged in Colorado so no rust that I know of. Any Mopar people out there?

A: if you can find out what all options it has and what engine it has in it, i could better answer you on it,i have seen them bring well above 25 thousand and them not even running, the price is going to based on the rarity of it and what engine option it came with, good luck.

Q: What car is faster a 2010 Dodge Challenger or a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo?
And which one handles easier?

A: The Challenger is a modern day muscle car whereas the Monte Carlo is a heavy FWD luxury coupe. The Challenger pretty much wins all performance aspects (even if the Monte is packing a supercharger), but that really isn’t fair to the Monte Carlo since its not exactly in the same class as the Challenger.

Q: Is the dodge challenger freedom commercial serious or a joke?
Are they trying to be funny or is the commercial intended to be serious and patriotic.

A: It’s serious, they want to portray the Challenger as all-American and try to portray it through the Revolutionary War.

Edit: It will NOT bite back, as they made their point clear. The British did NOT win the War, so they have NOTHING on the advertisement as far as History goes. Sure, they make better cars than America does, but that doesn’t make the advertisement false just because it has an American car in it. America won the War and that’s final.

Q: How much will insurance cost on a 1973 Dodge Challenger?
I am looking to buy one and its going to be under my parents name so I was just wondering if anyone can give me an estimate. Thanks!
My parents use Geico and we they have 2 cars under their name if that helps.

A: if you want it protected for the full value of it ,you,ll have to put antique insurance on it,every day car insurance wont pay off the full value of the car,and with antique insurance your limited as to how many miles you can drive it,it would cost about 3-400 a year for antique as opposed to about 600 every 6 months for regular insurance on it,and with regular insurance you,ll loose money if it ever gets wrecked, good luck.

Q: Who is interested in the Dodge Challenger that is supposed to be ready to order in Feb.?
Just curious as to when they will actually be in production.
I think I am going to treat myself to one of them.
WOOHOO!

A: I do, I do. I want one, six speed manual transmission please.

Q: How much is the new 2009 Dodge Challenger cost?
In Canada, that is? It’s not on the website.
LOL the question doesn’t make sense.

A: Around $38,000 US, suggested retail, who knows about the mark-up?

Q: dodge challenger????????????
isnt the dodge challenger just a big fat copy of the mustang??

A: Ummmm….no.

Q: dodge challenger….?
hey im turning 16 and i want a dodge challenger… i was wondering would a 70’s model be cheaper than a new one and which one has lower insurance

A: Wow, aiming high eh?
You’d likely have to buy a rust bucket that does not run, then fix it yourself. Otherwise you are looking at $20,000+ for an old car in not-so-great shape. Challengers weren’t made for many years in high volume, like say a ’60s Mustang. You can find a good running ’60s ’stang for $5000. Challenger? Not so much….
Either will have high insurance on a 16 year old male, but probably the new one would be higher simply due to what the company shows as its value.

Q: Dodge Challenger…?
I really want this car when it comes out!

A: yup, and so do I. 6.1L hemi and a six speed manual transmission please.
