i have an 2004 chevy avalanche the windows are electric but gradually the two front ones stopped workin and now only the ones in the back and finally the passanger window works what can be wrong with the other one? and where can i take to get the a/c fixed? what kind of shop any regular mechanic?
A: the AC is probably the compressor. The clutch on the pulley could be gone, the compressor could be finished, or you may just need to recharge the compressor.
The belt for the AC is your serpentine belt, which drives the rad fan, altenator, and power steering. Don’t worry about it.
Your windows sound like the motors have gone. You can go the cheap route and get new ones from a pick-n-pull or a wrecking yard, or go the expensive route and get them from a GM dealer.
Any backyard mechanic with half a brain can pull the door panels off and replace the motors. Or you could (and I would) pay a more reputable mechanic to do the work if you won’t be doing it yourself.

Working on a 2003, Chevy Avalanche with flex fuel injection and the dealer says that you have to replace the entire hub and it cost $700.
A: The dealer can replace the sensor independent from the hub assembly, however it is common for these hub assemblies to have excessive free play causing erratic ABS speed signals, in which case the new hub will include a new sensor. GM also has a recall on many of these trucks for corrosion between the wheel speed sensor and the hub assembly (the usual symptom of this is a false ABS apply at slow speed). Check to see if your truck is affected by this recall.

A: Its alot of work but the best way is to cut the roof where you want the rear of the roof to stop then get a jeep pickup cab and cut the back of the cab off and weld it in place. It’s harder than it sound’s and requires some fabrication but if you can weld you can do it.

A: That same compartment is also used in the all full-size GM trucks and SUVs 2003-2007 classic. It’s part of the 40/20/40 split bench seat, and the part you are referring to as “middle compartment between the driver and passenger seats which swivels up to become a third, middle, seat.” is call a fold down center console.

How many problems have you had with it. I love the looks of the truck and want to by a used one. Hoping to find one for 10-13 grand. Problems is everyone I find seems to have 180,000 and up on them. They seem to keep book value but I dont want to be replacing a engine right away. Just looking for opinions on if Id be throwing my money away. I just sold a 94 chevy with 270,000 on it and it still ran great.
A: If you can find a truck with maintenance records that has been maintained properly buying a truck with that many miles can save you some money, But buying one without knowing how it was maintained could be a costly mistake.

I bought the car used I don’t think there covered by a warranty
A: First look closely at the shocks that you already have. If it says Bilsteen on the shock, these are life time shocks and if bad are covered by warranty. If it does not say this, then this is what you should consider purchasing. Good Luck
