Q: Need to know how to disarm a 1995 Chevy Tahoe alarm?
I have a 1995 Chevy Tahoe 4 Door 4-Wheel Drive v8 5.7lt. I bought it used and it didnt come with a key less entry controller. Today i went to start it and the alarm went off ( i didnt even know it had an alarm) Now i cant turn it off and cant start the truck. Any idea on how to disarm it?

A: I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe ( the same body style as the ‘95 ) and mine doesn’t have an alarm? This alarm you speak of has to be an after market alarm and NEEDS the key less entry controller. You first need to know what brand alarm you have.

instrument panel left and right pivot bolts located at lower corners of instrument panel. Remove 3 screws

See Fig. 6 . Remove heater core. To install, reverse removal procedure. Replace any seals. Fill cooling

Q: What vehicles will 16″ tire rims taken from a Chevy Tahoe fit?
I have 3 tire rims from a Chevy tahoe. I want to list them on ebay, but I don’t know which vehicles they will fit. What kinds of cars will these fit?

A: They will pretty much fit any other 1/2 ton Chevy or GMC truck. The important fact is weather or not its a 2x or 4x. The 2x has 5 bolts and will also fit most of the full size rear wheel drive GM cars stating about in the 70’s. The 4x has 6 bolts and fits most 4×4 1/2 ton chevy and GMC trucks. Gm also used that bolt pattern in the 40’s on some cars.

Q: where is the front differential actuator located on a 1997 Chevy Tahoe?
Well i have a 1997 Chevy Tahoe with 275k miles on it and it hadnt broke down in 4-5 years til now. Anyways my 4-wheel drive stopped working all of a sudden. When i push the 4-wheel drive button it just flashes but when i push it it seems to engage but it doesnt. I was told it was the front differential actuator but i dont know where that would be located at. Please help! Thanks

A: Its not a vacuum operated one! Its on the front passenger side of the front differential. On a 97 it should be the 2 wire actuator has a 8″ or so pigtail on it, has an aluminum housing and requires a 1 to 1 1/4 inch wrench to remove it. If its the newer fast engage actuator it will be made of plastic. Older aluminum style took 10 seconds or so to engage and the newer plastic one took less then a second.
There is also a sensor right behind the actuator that is also has a 2 wire pigtail on it this is the sensor that tells the 4×4 module that the front axle is engaged, if it is bad or has broken wires it will disengage the 4×4. Check to make sure the plugs did not come apart they are right behind the front diff tube on the passenger side. The actuator is the most common failure, you can check it with an ohmmeter there should be resistance between the 2 wires. Or you can hook a power and ground to it from a battery and see if it extends. Also check with a test light to be sure you get power and ground to the actuator from the vehicle wiring harness. You will only get a power when the light on the dash is flashing so a helper may be needed. There is also a fuse by the drivers door that feeds the circuit for the actuator.

Q: Hi I am looking for a 2001 chevy tahoe with a good body but a blown engine.?
I have a totaled 2001 chevy tahoe that the engine is good but it really needs a new body. Thanks to anybody that can help.

A: Sorry, but if your Tahoe is totaled, it won’t be worth it to buy a new chassis and frame and body and just “put” the engine in it. That would cost you TONS of money. Your best bet is to buy a Tahoe that has a working engine AND a good frame…

Q: Is it a good time to buy a Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon?
I know there’s a lot of stuff going on with the GM companies, but I haven’t been following it. I’m thinking about a new larger SUV, either Chevy Tahoe or GMC. Is it a good time or terrible time to buy one?

Which one is better?

A: I like the Yukon personally, im actually saving up so i can buy one too..i love the way they look and how they sit up. Go for it

Q: How to remove oil transmission lines in Chevy Tahoe 1998?
am tying to remove the transmission from my Chevy Tahoe, but the oil transmission lines are in the way and need help on how to remove these.

A: There is a plastic cover over a small clip you must remove. Pry the little round cover back and remove the clip. After removing the clip you should be able to pull the straight out.
Pulling the lines straight is very important.

Q: Any idea how much horsepower this 2000 Chevy Tahoe Limited has?
OK, this 2000 Chevy Tahoe is one of the limited made in the old body style from the 90s, its been dropped 2 inches, has K&N air induction and flowmaster cat back exhaust. Has a 350 vortec with the automatic factory tranny and the factory body kit. It’s a four-door model and has light-weight aluminum rims. Any guess on the horsepower?

A: 220 horsepower is wrong answer that is the rating on 1995 and older tbi 5.7 non-vortec engine.
1996 and newer 5.7 vortec engine is rated at 255 horsepower before modifications.
Beyond that it’s a guesstimate?
If you really want to know take your vehicle to a shop with dynometer,Then you know what your real BHP horsepower is after your modifications.
Hope this helps.

Q: What is the window tint on an 04′ chevy tahoe?
The back windows on a standard 04 chevy tahoe are all tinted and i was wondering what % they were so i could match it for the front windows.

A: 15-18%

Color match is fairly simple with several great films available like LLumar at Http://llumar.com

Q: where is the inside fuse box on a 99 chevy tahoe 4×4?
just bought a 99 chevy tahoe, 4×4, 4 door, where it the fuse box on the inside of the cab?

A: Fuse block is on driver’s side of the dash. Open door, and you will see a small removable panel. The door chime/flasher unit/ and some relays are located under the dash on the driver’s side just to the left of the brake pedal.
Inside the engine compartment, there is a black box on the driver’s side on the fender, that houses larger relays, like the ones for your A/C and fuel pump ect. Also some fuses, and 2 AUX fuses that you can tap (30A max) for whatever you want.

Q: My heater setting only works on high setting in my 2002 chevy tahoe, what is the problem?

A: Blower Resistor

Q: What should I add to my 2007 Chevy Tahoe?
I just got a 2007 Chevy Tahoe. It’s all black and everything inside and out is stock. I’m adding a system, but other than that I’m not really sure what else to do to it. I wanna add some rims, window tent, etc. Any suggestions?

A: CCM 2.5″ Leveling Kit on some 33″ tires with the 20″ Factory Chevy wheels, Tint the windows, and add an aftermarket exhaust system. Whatever you do, don’t lower it on “24z” that makes the TRUCK completely useless.

Q: Could you get a manual tranny in a 09 Chevy Tahoe?
Im looking to get a 09 chevy tahoe but i love a manual transmission. I would pay up to 10,000 dollars to get one installed. Do you think if i contacted chevy or a local dealer they could do this for me?

A: you probably could but it would cost probably about that much and you would need all new stuff like a shifter, clutch, hand brake, and clutch cable

Q: Where can I rent a Chevy Tahoe in the Baltimore-DC area if I am 21?
I have checked all the major car rental companies and it seems like I can rent cars paying a fee since I am under 25, but they put restrictions on the cars including the Chevy Tahoe (meaning I can’t rent it). I need a big car for the day.

A: You you checked NEXT CAR RENTAL bec they are in the MetroDC and Maryland area. Note they have several locations and not each one has the same inventory but there website indicates they offer Chevy Tahoes.

Once we rented a cargo van over the weekend with unlimited mileage and it was very reasonable for non-recurring needs. In fact when we when to return it, there was a small business owner renting a truck and it was obvious he did business with them before…
